STOQ idea 1 — tag scoping Scope pre-order offers by product tag Offers can currently be scoped by All products, Collection or Specific products. None of those fit a large catalogue where pre-order status is already recorded as a product tag. All products is too broad, it catches every out-of-stock item including unique second-hand stock. Specific products is a static list that drifts out of date the moment a new pre-order is announced. Collection works but only as a workaround: we have had to create a collection whose sole purpose is to mirror a tag, which is duplicated data maintained for the app's benefit rather than the customer's. Tags are Shopify's standard merchandising primitive. Reading them directly would let a single flag drive both the storefront and the offer, with no extra objects to maintain. STOQ idea 2 — balance collection for retailers doing fraud checks Decouple balance collection from fulfilment, and protect against authorisation expiry We are a UK camera dealer. High-value electronics carry significant fraud risk, so payment must clear before goods leave the building. Every fraud check we run happens before fulfilment. Today the automatic balance triggers are a scheduled date or order fulfilment. Fulfilment is the release, so charging at fulfilment is too late — and we cannot use a fixed date because manufacturer stock dates move. That leaves manual collection, which means the automation is unusable for us. Three things would fix it: A balance trigger on stock arriving, so payment can clear while the order is still on hold. A bulk "collect balance" action across a filtered list, rather than one order at a time. A proactive re-authorisation prompt. Card authorisations lapse in 7 to 30 days, but camera pre-orders are announced three to six months ahead, so automatic collection is likely to fail on exactly the launches that matter most. Emailing customers to reconfirm their card before the authorisation expires would make long-dated pre-orders work at all.
